Bangor University

Bangor University was founded in 1884, making it one of the oldest and most prestigious degree awarding institutions in the UK. For more than 125 years students from all over the world have graduated from Bangor and as a result gone on to achieve great success in their chosen careers.

Situated near to the spectacular mountains of Snowdonia and with the sea close by, Bangor is one of the most attractive study locations in the UK, but yet one of the least expensive places to be a student in the UK.

The University’s performance in the recent Research Assessment Exercise confirms Bangor’s status as a world class research institution. In addition, Bangor was named as one of a small group of ‘access elite’ universities reflecting Bangor’s teaching and research excellence, our success in attracting students from all backgrounds, and, even more importantly, our success in retaining students.

Bangor has one of the largest Peer Guiding schemes of any UK university. From the moment you arrive, you’ll be given as much help and support as possible with health and welfare matters as well as your academic work. The Student Services Centre provides a wide range of support services for students, from Counselling services to money advice to advice on housing. It’s a one stop shop for all of the information you need.

At Bangor, we guarantee accommodation for all first year students. We have over 2,300 rooms available within easy walking distance of the University, that includes some 1450 en-suite study rooms.

Bangor has a lower cost of living than many parts of the UK and Hall fees reflect this - they also include all bills for heating, electricity and hot water!
